چکیده

Introduction This study describes the relationship between falls from standing height, or greater, and mortality in ambulance-transported patients with major trauma falls. Methods Road ambulance records 1 January 2013 to 31 December 2016 were linked WA State Trauma Registry identify trauma. Results Of who fell level, 114/460 (25%) died within 30 days, compared 47/222 (21%) height (p=0.64). Conclusion Mortality is relatively high, fall not associated 30-day survival, among metropolitan Perth, Western Australia.

Common protective movements govern unexpected falls from standing height.

Simple energy considerations suggest that any fall from standing height has the potential to cause hip fracture. However, only 1-2% of falls among the elderly actually result in hip fracture, and less than 10% cause serious injury. This suggests that highly effective movement strategies exist for preventing injury during a fall. To determine the nature of these, we measured body segment movemen...

Fatal falls from a height: the use of mathematical models to estimate the height of fall from the injuries sustained.

The authors undertook a review of fatal falls from a height, that occurred in 1991-92 in Singapore, with the objective of constructing mathematical models relating the height of fall to the injuries sustained. The 603 cases studied showed a mean age of 41.4 years with a male to female ratio of approximately 2:1. A sub-sample of 416 (69%) of these subjects had fallen from known heights (mean, 26...
